We traded a 5th for Vedvik, so pretty much feel he makes the season roster. Question then is position and who gets cut. Zimmer has had his issues with kickers and rookies, and in this instance is not saying very much. We know that 3 teams are interested in bring in a kicker outside of camp, and possibly one other AFC team. We also know that Zimmer prefers experience and Vedvik has not yet kicked under pressure. Thus feel we keep Bailey and use Vedvik to kickoff and punt, plus handle any long range FGs. Should he show good kicking skills under pressure, than we could possibly trade Bailey to recoup some of what we had to give up in trade. Feel we can always find a punter to add to the roster, much more so than a kicker.

I believe Wile will be cut; he is not even holding for kicks. Zimmer said something about Vedvik being considered for both kicking positions.

Plus Bailey replacement if Bailey screws the pooch.

I want him as a kicker if he has to be one or the other. Punts give up field position and that's not good, but kickers give up points AND field position and are a lot harder to find. Also reports are bailey is having a lot more problems in camp than Wile, so there's that as well. Finally, Bailey is 31 with a 2 mil salary and Vedvik is 25 with a $570K salary this year and $660K 2020 salary. Seems to me Bailey is the most likely candidate.

Skolvike, Agree with everything you said but I still believe Wile is odd man out. Zimmer doesnβt like rookies or kickers and he really doesnβt like rookie kickers. I think Wile is gone and V will be the punter and kickoff specialist. If Bailey struggles you already have his replacement on the team. Unless Bailey really sucks in preseason... he will be opening day kicker.

I like the move. Baily was a bit too inconsistent last season and Wile is not in the top half of punters. I think he does both and we keep an extra defensive lineman.

This year he is starting Bradbury and Cutting for certain and there is a good chance Bisi Johnson, Irv Smith, and ALex Mattison will get some starts as well. Last year had Beebe, Boone, Thomas, O'Neil, and Wile start games. I just don't get that "Zim doesn't like rooks" thing. I think he says that to make the rooks work even harder to start, but when he believes they are good enough,he starts them without hesitation. It's anther Zim head game. That said, your guess is as good as mine. It will be interesting to see how it turns out, won't it?

That's brutal, I'm glad we got the young man then.

If the Vikings offered him for trade, teams will just wait until he is cut instead.
