Have to wonder the delay in signing Jejjereson and starting to think there is a plan. Jefferson wants to break the bank, which he has earned. He also is concerned about who will be throwing to him. While waiting cost us more, we have flexibility. Waiting allows us to see if he can bond with a new QB and want to stay. Signing him now and him a year later wanting to be trade will likely leave us with a ton of dead cap. If he plays under current contract or franchise tag and desires to be traded, then we allow the next team to do his next contract. We obtain assets and avoid all that dead cap. My hope it works out and continues to be a Viking. We tried to reward him but the drag in getting done has now made things complicated by him wanting to play with a great QB.

He is still under contract and these type of extensions almost always get done after the start of the league year and often in the summer.

I think he's waiting to see what CD lamb gets. Each subsequent star wr contract signed before he signs will only increase his contract. He's very calculated

Why should the vikes be in a hurry to sign a contract when they will likely need to trade him to move up in the draft.

They aren't going to trade for a rook QB then trade his #1 target AND he's under contract for 3 more years counting franchising him. JJ basically has exactly zero leverage other than becoming a cancer, and even that's questionable.

I doubt the Vikings would trade JJ for less then 2 1's and extra... Maybe 3 1st's. Do you think they are trading up with Chicago for #1? That is the only pick I think they would even entertain for JJ...Basement deal for JJ trading up would be something like #4 & #27 and something like a 3rd from Az. Chargers need players more then 1 star player as they retool most of the roster. They could use a couple WR's, a couple OL, probably a young RB, CB's, IDL, and might even like a high end TE. I think Jim would like some bites at the apple in the 25-50 range and will have 4 or even 5 of his guys available in that range. I will be shocked if Jim doesn't draft at least 2 of his guys from Michigan this year in the draft. Jenkins, Sanristil, Wilson, and Colston are all going to go late first to 2nd and all fit needs they have. Also it seems almost inevitable Jim will get his guy Corum both because he needs a young RB and because he is the exact kind of culture guy Jim will want. I doubt Chargers would trade for JJ hamstringing their roster rebuild under Harbaugh.
