Jets team stat leaders during this time. 2018 Rushing I. Crowell 685 Receiving R. Chosen 752
2019 Rushing L. Bell 789
Receiving Crowder 833
2020 Rushing F. Gore 653
Receiving Crowder 699
I don't know how Darnold will do going forward but the Jets really fkd this kid.
Who the hell brings in a 20 year old high rated QB and provides him NO weapons.
Just to make Darnold comfortable we could get rid of our offensive weapons and line him up with A. Peterson and KJ Osborne. Give him the washed up back and number 3 WR he is used to.

At least he didnโt have a buttfumble. I agree he was dealt a bad hand. I don't think anyone ever questioned his talent. The real question is if he can undo all the bad that happened during that time. I'd love nothing more than for this kid to have a Baker Mayfield revival, but statistically the odds don't favor him. Most QB's that fail miserably coming out of college never regroup and get their confidence back. From what little I saw of him last year...it's clear he has the arm talent, but he still had happy feet and looked panicky in the pocket and I'm not sure that is going to get better behind the OL we have right now.

I agree. I believe at the highest level a LOT of the game becomes mental and hinges on confidence.
Hoping for the best for Darnold. Seems like the grandson of the Marlboro man deserves better.
It is probably also a clear indicator for Viking fans who want a rookie QB to be patient with him and for the team to provide him as much help on both sides of the ball as possible.
If the draft breaks where we do not move up for a QB perhaps the Viking would consider adding a premier C or G if available??

His college stats weren't that good. Why did he go 3rd overall again?

I know we don't always see eye to eye, but I can't agree with this statement more if I tried. It's why I've been critical about where we have prioritized cap spend since KAM took over. I don't think we are doing what we need to do in order to help ANY QB but particularly if we are going the refurb/rookie role. Yes we needed to replace some of the Defense walking out the door, but if the plan is to trade up and give up multiple 1st rd draft picks to get a QB, there is absolutely nothing we should have been focused on more than protecting them and providing time while they adjust and regain or maintain their swagger. Do you think it's any surprise that Mayfield found his swagger again playing behind an OL built to protect Tom Brady?? You let a rookie QB get hit the way Kirk did the last 5 years and they'll be out of the league in 3 years no matter how good a WR and TE they have. I know he's old, but I'd have much rather had Kevin Zeitler at G than Aaron Jones at RB for the same money, while we draft a G to replace him. I still contend the problem with our Running Game wasn't our RB's, but rather our OL and different blocking schemes we tried to implement at different points throughout the year which didn't fit the personnel. I do hope we address the OL in the draft and I hope for once we have some scouts that know what they are doing.

It is good to find common ground and at times we are just going to disagree. At
I know I like the Viking offensive line better than you do. I see Darrisaw as excellent, O'Neill very good, Ingram as improving.
I don't care for the way Bradbury has played and I haven't seen enough of Brandel. I also did not care at all for the way Mattison ran in 2023. Chandler was much better IMO but I feel much more comfortable having Jones/Chandler which is kind of what Detroit did with Montgomery/Gibbs than having just Chandler. Like you I would love to see a top notch C/G addition. Prob will not happen if the draft breaks right for a QB.

KOC has elevated QB play, Kirk had his best 2 years in the NFL with KOC and clearly Stafford had his best year winning the SB then regressing after KOC left.
Darnold has skills, he has been on bad teams. I look for this to be his best year in the league and the team being competative.

Maybe Darnold is the Vikings quarterback of the future and the team can draft two defensive studs at picks 11 and 23 instead of trading up for a quarterback. Continue to develop Jaren Hall as the backup.

Sam left the 49ers looking for a chance to prove himself, he still has the drive to play and start. He could have collected a check from the NFC champ 49ers as a back up. So maybe KOC can work some magic with an experience player that has talent. Lots of folks say he has no confidence, he is broken. Only he knows that. He left the 49er bench so he is not completely broken and has some faith he can play as a starter. None of this is a sure thing he will play well, neither is picking one of the top prospects this year. I consider Sam a good option to try, he looks more talented than Mullens and slightly less turn over prone. Best of luck kid.
