Chiefs receive 2024 7th round pick and 2025 third round pick. Sneed gets a 4 year $76 million contract from the Titans. Pretty good deal for the Titans.

Chiefs did not want to pay him that much. So, instead of releasing him, they tried to get as much as they could for him.

Lot of times there is a limited trade market for players earning high salary.
Why lose draft picks and pay big bucks when you can find players in FA?

That is a great trade for the Titans, I can understand if KC did not want to pay him and wanted to get whatever they could for him, but why trade him to an AFC team, I would have thought they could have easily found an NFC team who would have been willing to do the same.

Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill to an AFC team a few years ago as well. I think with Mahomes they aren't really afraid of an AFC team getting stronger.
No doubt they shopped Sneed and I just don't believe the trade market would be that strong for a CB making 20M.j A lot of teams don't want to tie that kind of money to CB position and if they already have one making near that (it is kind of the top of the market) they are very unlikely to pay two corners that kind of money.

It is interesting that this is the kind of deal the Vikings will be able to make easily next offseason as they have surplus salary cap room.
Not recommending it and they will have to be careful but very doable scenario for the Vikings next year if they prioritize it.
IMO Chiefs are probably wiser to say f'k that.
Lions could have used Sneed to replace Cam Sutton.

The Chiefs basically got a the 80th pick in the trade instead of the 100th pick in a compensatory.
