I canβt disagree with any moves so far provided they get rookie qb with a trade up.
Even if they donβt make playoffs and have losing record, it makes sense if your qb can develop. If they donβt trade up, there was no point in trading up to 23 now since a lot of teams can jump them between 11 and 23.
Getting QB of future is even less likely without a 2nd round pick to move up.

If our new QB is still upright and doesnβt have any missed games due to injury at the end of the seasonβ¦it will be a win in itself.

I am feeling pretty good about things.
I like Darnold better than some. I do believe we will move up for our QB of the future prospect if the draft breaks right. That said I like having 11 and 23 in this draft even if we stay put.
I think the Vikings have an excellent coaching staff and if we don't have any catastrophic injuries like the Cousins achilles we will be very competitive.

Vikings fans will need some patience with the rookie quarterback. Reminder that the Bengalsβ Joe Burrow was 2-7-1 in his first season. And, the Billsβ Josh Allen had Mullensesque stats: Attachment Deleted

Moving up at least gives KOC a bigger pool of QB's to pick from. His first try with a high pick..... Maybe he is good at it? :-)
The pick will work out OR we just try again next year.

I agree that I think our coaching staff is really good (even if KOC needs to get better on play calling). I'm also fine staying put....but I don't think we will unless we "CAN'T" find a trade partner which is a real possibility. But unless we draft a stud DT and a really good G or C I don't see us having the firepower to compete with Detroit and GB.

I wouldn't give Detroit and GB too much credit.
Detroit was nearly injury free last year. I like some of their players but the defense is still soft and Dan Campbell is good for a couple screw ups a game.
GB rode Aaron Jones the last 4 games and in the playoffs. Nice story but he is a Viking and all they really did was beat a horrible Cowboys team.
Detroit and GB are fine. They are not these juggernauts some make them out to be.
Also if we get our QB the season we need to beat them is 25, 26

We could go Jackson Powers and Byron Murphy Jr. in the draft and roll with Darnold.
This board would blow up but be kind of fun to watch.

Could be great or could ruin team chemistry.

Diggs is a pretty good football player so I hope that does not happen. It would give Lions a tough group of pass catchers and likely allow them to move past so far NFL bust Jameson Williams.
But Diggs can get pissy and be a prima donna so he might end up getting on Goffs nerves a little.
I do doubt this rumor. Buffalo is unlikely to move Diggs after letting Gabe Davis walk and Detroit still thinks Jameson can be ok.

Probably won't happen but Diggs could make Goff miserable and take the whole team down. That would be fun to watch.

2024 was always about using our draft capital to get a young QB and clearing out the rest of our dead cap to open up FA in 2025. If we end up making playoffs while we do that then great. All the better. If we play close to .500 football and our young QB looks good taking over for Darnold during the season then I would consider 2024 a success.

I agree, but I don't think the QB we take will see the field this year. Still, it has to be done and I will be satisfied that the team is finally moving forward.

In that case, we probably won't want to put the kid in a shit situation and kill his confidence or get him hurt. But I think Darnold will be what he is which is below average and the team will be muddling along at like 3-5 at midseason and the kid will be given the keys for the second half.
