Dumbest rule change yet. How is a 175 CB like Blackmon supposed to tackle a 210-235lbs runner from the side or from behind without using weight leverage? Any player trying to catch a runner running N or S from behind or side is going to have to use their body to bring the runner down. It's simply the dumbest rule change ever....hell the players don't even want it!

The NFL apparently wants constant knee shots. The dude from Detroit is now the model for perfect tackles.

I've yet to see a video or even a graphical representation of what this means.

I've yet to see a video or even a graphical representation of what this means. Thanks for the graphic, reading description kinds makes it clear. The graphic you posted looks like a lot of NFL game tackles. I feel for the under 200 LB corners of the nfl. YIKES!

Missed Tackles will climb to all-time highs. Injuries from the policy being put in place - I really doubt they will go down! More watering down the game for simpleton and short attention spans!

Thanks for the graphic, reading description kinds makes it clear. The graphic you posted looks like a lot of NFL game tackles. I feel for the under 200 LB corners of the nfl. YIKES! It's hardly proper tackling form. But to be fair, that's about how I looked hitting a blocking sled. I saw Cam Newton say this "technique" is a result of a lack of solid tackling fundamentals these days - contact, wrap, drive. He kind of framed these tackles as a tacky way for bigger guys to avoid contact. In this video, the clips they show demonstrate tackles where the defender is grabbing, impeding momentum and then chopping their own legs out to weigh down the ball carrier. They aren't wrapping up and driving through contact - they kind of wrap up and act like their legs not existing is the most preferable way to take down the ball carrier. Hopefully we end up in a place where these are as identifiable as horse collar tackles and the enforcement doesn't suck.

I've yet to see a video or even a graphical representation of what this means. The real problem sounds like; when a guy uses his body weight to bring a guy down; he's also bring his legs behind the player and chopping his legs; almost looks like a collar tackle, or same effect of a collar tackle. This is going to be a nightmare rule for sure. Reviewing the play is going to take for ever, and what about ejections; if it appears to be intentional? The word is APPEAR I would guess. Fines are going to be another factor on players. This whole thing is stupid. These owners must drink to much before these meetings, because they sure seem to be awful easy to accept any kind of rule changes anymore.

The should have called it the Butt Sit Tackle, or the Little Timmy's Not Coming Down the Firepole Tackle. Or the Grown Ass Man vs. The Family Tire Swing tackle.

There are going to be a lot of game changing flags that come out of this.
