They aren't trading for Herbert. They didn't dump Cousins' 40 mil contract to take on Herbert's 50 mil contract. They want to extend JJ and have a lot of cap space next year. Trading for Herbert would end both of those goals, so contrary to the Fox article, no, it doesn't make sense. If the Chargers were crazy enough to trade Herbert, the Vikes would do it in a minute, he is one of the best young QBs in the game and is going nowhere. Damm right they would!!!

IMO Kwesi didn't go through all of these efforts to dump big contracts just to hoist another one. You guys keep bringing up the fact Herbert is 10 years younger than Cousins. Well, he's also 5 years older than Maye or McCarthy but of course, that doesn't matter. What matters is 5 years of a rook QB contract to build the rest of the team for a change. The point is moot anyway.

I'm not convinced Herbert is anything more than Kirk Cousins 2.0 with his 30-32 record.

(At the owner's meetings) Pelissero reported yesterday that what he's hearing in his conversations with other NFL executives who know Washington general manager Adam Peters, they believe McCarthy could be his pick.
In that scenario it's probably Drake Maye that gets out of the top 3 and becomes the guy the Vikes come away with. I'm not sure I'd believe any draft speculation coming from teams at the owners meetings a month before the draft but it's an interesting possibility.

For clarification, now that Kirk is gone do we no longer care about win/lose record, record against winning teams, record against division opponents and record in prime time games? Just curious because Herbert is KC 2.0 is n that respect. For clarification sake I'd take Herbert in a heartbeat. Just find the goal post moving assuming.

I actually like McCarthy more than Maye. Maye has tools but his man a lot of bad plays, real questions about reading the field post-snap and going through progressions (kind of like Darnold) - big gap between highs and lows.

He probably would have lost to Denver for the 8th loss if he had stayed in the game, too - but you donβt know. losses were to Miami (by 2 points), Tennessee (by 3), Dallas, KC, Detroit, GB, Baltimore. All good teams except Tennessee. With injury and other issues at skill positions and really all over that team. Sacked 29 times in the 12.5 games he played - his replacement sacked 14 times in 4.5 gamesβ¦ so sacked at a greater rate (meaning possibly Herbert escaped more).
