I think there are many similarities of the 1973 team to this years team Both teams acquired big name qbs with 500 records in previous year, Karl Kassauky sp? had bad motorcycle accident in 72. Tony Sparano died last yr before training camp Neither defense played well and both had offensives had limitations Team was snake bit both years in close games In 73 Vikings acquired Chuck Foreman, perfect fit for Tarkenton led offense. This year we acquired a tight end and zone blocking OL perfect fit for Kubiak offense Lets just hope Super Bowl comes out different.

We will see how this works out, but the 73 team relied upon running the ball, great defense and Tark making big plays in close games

I still remember the whuppin we put on Dallas in their stadium in the playoffs that year, remember watching it with my old man (r.i.p.). What a day that was. Of course I also remember the whuppin we took from Miami afterwards.

Of course I also remember the whuppin we took from Miami afterwards. I still gag when I mentally see Larry Czonka punching right up the middle of our D play after play after play, only stopping once in a while to let Jim Kiick punch up the middle play after play after play. In all my years watching the vikings that game still stands out as the most thoroughly Viking ass-kicking in the history of the team, including 41-donut.

My parents went to the Miami game, and my mom says the only thing she remembered was Fran sitting on his helmet on the sidelines as Miami ran over us, and the game being over before it really started. I had some old pictures of the pregame and the kick-off, but they have been misplaced over the years.
