I donβt see the Vikings wanting Fields since they signed Darnold and will be taking a quarterback in the first round of the draft. There are other teams that have a bigger need for him.

Um Fields is unproven especially in our offense and will require way too much money next year. No way this will ever happen.

Ryan Poles has waited so long to deal Fields that I believe very little trade market exists for him.

Ryan Poles has waited so long to deal Fields that I believe very little trade market exists for him. If I was Poles; I would would wait until day 2 of the draft. At that point; a lot of teams that need a QB (Patriots, Giants, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders) will know whether they got theirs or not.

I donβt think itβs happening with Darnald signing. With the move we made yesterday if we hadnβt signed Darnald I could have maybe gotten on board with this idea even tho I think heβs a poor fit scheme wise. We could have seen if KOC could morph his offense to fit his style a bit better and coach him up and if it didnβt work draft QB next year when fewer teams are vying for QB. There are a lot of people that think Fields has been dealt a bad hand and just needs to go to the right team with a good coach and better supporting cast. Minny has that. Heβs got plenty of arm and was one of the most accurate throwers in football coming out of college β¦. But to date canβt read a defense. In the meantime you use your 2 firsts to fill in DT, CB, OL or WR. Or if thereβs a QB that falls to 11 you like take em. And now you have 2x the odds of finding the right QB.
But given we signed Darnald AND paid him 10 Milllion I donβt see any way this happens. You are paying Darnald too much to be a backup all year AND these two donβt really have the same skill set. So if you are morphing the offense youβd want the backup to have similar skill set and Darnald, while he has some size and mobility, isnβt really the same type of player.

If I were targeting Daniels in the draft Fields would be a good option to pair with him as you could run same system for both though Daniels is faster, but Fields has more arm. Both are 2 read guys that tend to freeze in the pocket under pressure and take unnecessary sacks. Both would be served well in an RPO with a lot of motion and bootleg/waggle to cut the field in half. Daniels might be able to stand in a pocket and read 4 or 5 options, but Fields can't (and never had to at OSU). This brings me back to a point that JJM is the only QB in this draft's top 6 that played in a Pro Style O and had to read 4 or 5 routes regularly.
