If the Vikes don't bring back Cousins and they do draft a QB at 11 or later and it's not one of the top three, what do you think of Browning as the Bridge QB. It seems like the light came on for him.

Iβd much rather see a guy like Minshew as a bridge.
Mullens himself would be ok if he could just stay away from the bonehead turnovers. His history says he canβt.

If Cousins signs elsewhere, then maybe try for Mayfield. Minshew would be ok. Or, just roll with Mullens. I donβt want Darnold or Winston. It could end up being a McNabb situation where the rookie quarterback is starting by the end of the season.

I think it would be Mullens, he's already under contract. He's not great, but the Vikings are not going to be a great team next year anyway.

If we end up drafting one of the top 5 quarterbacks they need to start them day one. No need for a bridge quarterback. Just make sure you have a competent backup like Mullens.

Sounds to me like Tampa may not resign and take his void hit. Iβd much prefer a Bridge QB that could actually BE your QB if your draft pick flops. Mayfield played very well at end of year. Heβs only 28 and could serve as your bridge long enough to find a young QBβ¦ or if he continues to growβ¦ you can trade away. He wonβt be as cheap as Darnald and all the other crap QBβs people keep mentioning but heβs cheaper than Kirk and CAN lead a team. Minshew doesnβt have the arm to run this O.

If we offer Jerry Jones a 3rd or 4th rounder, we might be able to draw Trey Lance away from the Cowboys. I was so tempted to end my post there, but I don't want to be accused of locking up this thread. I'm kidding!!!

Starting to sink in that Kirk is less likely to come back then to come back at this point? Well if the dumb SOB would take a team friendly deal and request the roster be bolstered with the $$$ saved and do all that he could on his end to win a title..he could stay here til he tripped on his prostate....but we ALL know better

What is an insulting offer to Cousins?
An offer that is a dollar less than whatever he is demanding.

Here's the deal, Cousins I think wants to stay in Minnesota, but also doesn't want to seem too eager. I know fans here are all down on him, but how many of you go into work each year and tell your bosses you'll take less than what you are worth so they can hire more people to better the company? The answer is none of you. People have always struggled with jealousy over the dollar figure. But what people fail to understand is his net worth is nowhere close to his career earnings. Taxes, Agent Comp, etc...takes a huge chunk of that. In 2023 his estimated net worth was 70M. Sounds like a lot of money, but at 35, he can't really afford to take more than 3% of that annually. That comes to 2.1M. At 2.1M he'll pay roughly 1M in State and Federal Tax leaving 1.1 M. That's a lot of money, but to somebody that has been making multi millions for years....that is a hell of a pay cut. For the average person....that sounds like a lot of money, but money is all relative to lifestyle and circles your friends run in and people with money tend to do things with other people that have money. Don't get me wrong...he won't be struggling like the average person, but it will still seem like a huge pay cut, so I do understand his desire to still make as much as possible. There is a big difference of having 70M and still making millions in earnings per year and having 70M and living off the earnings at 35 or 39 or whenever he hangs it up.
People here are having a shit fit over the 39 Million figure. @ 39M that places him just outside the top 10 QB's in compensation, which according to most here is exactly where he ranks. When you mix in what KOC is looking for most in a QB, only about half the QB's listed above him fit that bill. So, I understand the argument of wanting to move on due to age and state of team, I understand the argument for re-signing the guy due him playing his best ball and no known QB commodity waiting in the wings, but I don't get people having a shit fit over the price because it is straight up where it should be.
