Interesting comment from Collingsworth last night in how KC plans to be running by Feb. 1st and then will start making videos of his recovery to send to teams during free agency. It seems that Kirk is going to take an aggressive approach to FA to maximize his contract. I donβt think a team friendly contract for the Vikings is on the table. I donβt blame Kirk. Football is a violent game and players should get paid while the window is open. I always thought that Kirk would get at least two years of big money guaranteed on the open market and Kirk recognizes the lack of quality QBs and is setting himself up for one last big pay day. Are the Vikings going to bite or move on?

Bye bye if that's the case. Love Kirk, but this team needs help in many areas and if Kirk NEEDS more $$ he can go find it elsewhere.

It's time to move on and draft a QB in the first round we can build a team around. We are sitting at 12 right now but with the way we are playing they could move up a little more. This is the year to do it with so many high rated QBS coming out.

Kirk is a businessman.
βPlay for the love of the gameβ coaches like Zimmer has always known that about him and knows that itβs hard to roster construct around him because he plays the optics game to the fullest and teams will bite.
Kirk will get paid.
I have a sneaking suspicion it wonβt be here.

I think the fact that the Vikings didn't extend Kirk before the season started is a pretty good indication that he won't be back.

Kirk has made a little north of 231 Million dollars in his career. I believe he has been on of the most compensated NFL players ever.
Nothing about Cousin's indicates he would offer the Vikings a 'discount'.
That said even in a QB starved league what is 'fair value' for a 36 year old QB with very limited mobility coming off a major achilles injury?? Tough to say.
I believe Kirk and KOC and Kwesi have open communication lines. I can see him back but I don't think the Vikings are ready to break the bank for him.

The Vikings should have no interest in signing him to another 30M "team friendly" cap hit, pay him 45 and push 15 million into future years. If he is here or not, we are into the cap for 28 million. If he wont take a team friendly one year deal then he should walk. He is currently 4th in line for a new contract..IMHO.
This team needs one hell of alot more than a Kirk Cousins or any competent QB to be competitive. Its a below average roster with too many JAGS having to be signed for lack of cap, too many marginal 1-3 year players players that are still learning and several high priced vet's that need to be gone.
It's time to look to the future and try and hit on that franchise QB even if we have to pay the piper to do so and take our lumps of a young QB. Looking at the division...the Vikings could be close to a top 10 pick and right now it is arguable they are the 4th best team in the division. And its possible that the other teams in the North have found their QB.
in future years..A big advantage is also having more cap room to sign top free agents instead of the Dean Lowrys before the draft....A great FA in a 1st round area of need would work as well as 1st round picks or picks we would have to give up to move up. Giving the Vikings a much needed boost to round out the roster more quickly
I do like Kirk, but if he wants the World...go talk to Atlanta.. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting different results..

$30 million a yr for 2 yrs tops!
Vikings are in sell mode. They just never realize it and keep being average.
