Alright hear me out before you kill me.
The guys played very well. Kirk is still playing at a high level. But looking at our offense, itβs perfect for a young qb to come in to. We have an oline that looks good! We have great wrs! We have a good TE. Running back can be strengthened.
Defense looks alive with a competent coach. We arenβt that old on defence, so we can maybe build on it.
This is a perfect set up for a young qb. He will have all the pieces on a young offense to grow with. The defense can get more love and who knows, this team might make a quick turnaround.
I get it, people are scared to get a shit qb. And Kirk is still playing well, but for how long? We arenβt a year or two away from Super Bowl. We might be three or four. Letβs get a guy in and let him make this team his and lead us onwards

Youβre making the case for extending KC on a 2-3 year dealβ¦which for me is the smart move.
You draft a QB each of the next 2 years ( if the first doesnβt have it). They learn how to be a NFL QB in preparation and taking care of yourself for availability.

Maybe! The only problem with Kirk is how the cap hit will work the next years after we extended it again. I donβt want us missing more free agents because of that. A possible scenario is Kirk on cheap 1/2 year deal and new qb to sit or take over if he regresses
