If the Vikings Considered trading Kirk Cousins, what would make you happy as a Vikings fan? I dont think we will be happy.
From what I am hearing, we will get a 3rd round compensatory pick at years end if we let him walk at that point. That should be the bar in terms of what we receive from any team considering a trade.
Factors holding down his trade value:
He will participate in 8 or 9 games max so 1/2 year rental He will cost a ton of money to the team that signs him. He has a no trade clause possibly limiting number of competing suitors. Has a history of demanding max guaranteed salary to resign. Has not won many playoff games and can't shake the "not a winner" label. Teams know we are motivated to trade him.
Reasons we might trade him anyhow for less than 3rd round compensation:
Saves the owners money (this is a factor we often ignore). Allows us to tank (for a QB) more easily as its hard to convince a QB/coach/team to play poorly when careers are at stake. Allows us to develop one of our backup QBs (guys like Purdy do come along)
Reasons we might NOT trade him:
Eliminates any realistic chance of turning the season around. (longshot) losing isnt great for inspiring fan interest.
My guess is nobody offers us more than a 4th , or maybe a late rounder with a serviceable offensive lineman. Thats it. Thus we ride out the season with him and collect our 3rd.

It all depends on what the plan is with Cousins for next year. Right now we have no other QB option, we are most likely not going to make the playoffs and are going to win enough games that will keep us from drafting a NFL ready QB in the draft. Unless they plan on rolling with him next year, then it makes sense to see what they can get now.
The bigger issue is finding a trade partner. A lot of talk about the Jets, but Rodgers is not their future and with what they have invested in Wilson, they need to find out if he is the answer, in a division with the Bills and Dolphins and a conference with the Chiefs they are not winning their division or the AFC, so what would be the point. Maybe the other potential options are the Raiders and Steelers, but I think they are long shots, so think it is very unlikely at this point.
