I think Tampa Bayβs baseball stadium only holds 25,000. Tropicana Field/Capacity 42,735 On tv it looks huge. The Rays have been the target of low attendance for years now, and their average attendance was 17,781 in the 2023 regular season. That ranked 27th, and only the Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics were lower.

For the 2019 season, Tropicana Field closed its upper decks, as part of efforts and renovations to "create a more intimate, entertaining and appealing experience for our fans". This reduced the stadium's capacity to around 25,000βthe lowest in the league. The team's average attendance in the 2018 season was only just over 14,000. A 99-win team cannot fill their 25,000-seat reduced capacity stadium for the playoffs, LOL.

Mistake to put the arena in St. Petersburg. Should have been in Tampa.

I read that the Rays are getting a brand new $1.3 billion stadium in 2028 that remains in St. Petersburg that will still only seat 30,000 for baseball games.

The fans that come to the games are great. Really fun to go to the sports bars pregame and after.
The stadium itself is the worst in the league or close to it. Old looking and crappy. Seems tough for them to get a crowd to attend that hole but they do regularly put a good team on the diamond.

Both Florida teams seem to be living off the luxury tax paid by teams like NY and LA.

Crazy year in MLB playoffs. 84 Win Arizona knocks off the #2 seed Dodgers in 3
games and the 90 Win Phillies knock off the #1 seed Atanta 3 games to 1.
Rangers not only beat Tampa and Baltimore but swept them.
