Big play of the day: Jordan Hicks intercepted a Kirk Cousins dumpoff to Alexander Mattison during a two-minute drill to win it for the defense. The backup offense won the drill with Nick Mullens finding Thayer Thomas three times to get into field goal range.

How is it bullshit? The contract he previously signed had the big roster bonus last season to supposedly lead to a complete renegotiation last year, but the new management team refused to do so. Hunter showed last season that he was healthy and still productive, even in a system that wasn't best suited to his strengths. Kwesi and company are folks to think that he would play this season for 1/4 (maybe even only 1/5) of his market value.

I suspect that it's more about the contract duration that Hunter wants, more than the per year value.

2 x $25M (the absolute max I think the Vikings would do) is less than 4 x $20-25M (closer to what I guess Hunter wants), especially if a lot of the latter is in a signing bonus. And with Kwesi seemingly being focused on reducing payroll, he might only be offering 2 x $20M.

Certain there will be void years and the like in any deal and he already has 5.6M cap hits for 24' & 25' if extended.

We don't know what was promised and it was also with a different front office. If he wants to be paid for when he was under paid, that is his prerogative but he has had a history of injuries. He also was very good last year but not great. He isn't top 5 as a defensive end and should probably be paid close to 8th best. I see the arguments on both sides but hope he isn't trying to get back pay.

But players never know how long it will be before management changes, so my point stands.

I'm almost positive he want's more than 3 years at 25 mill per year and pretty positive the Vikes are only willing to give him 3 years max and about 20 mill per year.
