Do you feel strongly that Levis will be a great winning NFL QB? Or did you just hope that the Vikings might see that in him because it would be nice to identify one?

No, i dont really have an opinion on him at all but would rely on what others thought.
From what i have read i did not want them drafting either of the QBs on the board. Dont think cutting Kirk loose is the answer, but would like to see them get somebody, maybe those guys are more relative to thier next pick?
Wanted them to go defense, but i liked the pick.

Yes....I was worried. Only 2 QB's I thought were remotely worthy of first round capital were Young and Richardson. I didn't want anything to do with the rest with a 1st. If the Vikes decide to trade back up in to the 2nd and take him there....I'd be mixed but at least think the risk reward there is decent....but after going offense in the 1st Rd I just don't see that happening. There is no way we can wait until Rd 4-5 to pick defense.

I thought the Vikings were going to take Levis as 23 just based on the supposed rankings. But, if KOC didnβt want him, then thereβs got to be major doubts about his ability to be a franchise quarterback.

I wouldnβt mind Levis or Hooker but I prefer Levis in the 2nd with a trade up. He just reminds me of a Josh Allen type. Big, physical with a big arm. I think he can be our future QB with KOC guiding him. I can see it happening and I think it will.

Itβs all about value.
If he slips like Malik Willis, he is worth a shot.
Doesnβt matter if we fail. Draft another QB next yearβ¦.and the nextβ¦

One thing to keep in mind.
The one good year that Levis has (2021-2022 season), his OC (Coen) was a former Rams coach who worked with KOC. When we hired KOC, the Rams hire Coen to be their OC. I assume since KOC knows Coen well, he's privy to all the inside info about Levis. Says something that the Vikings/KOC took a pass.
I'm getting flashbacks to Ryan Mallett with Levis situation. Mallett also had a rocket arm and a couple good years in the SEC. Was supposed to be drafted in 1st but wasn't taken until the 3rd round (and ultimately was never good in the NFL).

Mallet couldnβt cut it at Michigan and had to transfer to Arkansas. Levis from Penn State to Kentucky. The βwhyβ is huge. Mallet folded under pressure when the going got tough even at the collegiate level. People fell in love with his arm talent which was legitimate but he clearly was lacking intangibles.

I believe for both there were rumors that their interviews went badly too. Came off as arrogant/entitled. But also if he's so great why couldn't he beat out Sean Clifford. Pretty clearly the NFL teams had their questions too. But my bigger point was just that KOC and Coen know each other well from their time on the Rams together. I assume KOC used that connection to get inside info on Levis from his former coach. And he chose to pass on Levis.

I for one had no clue, I was sure they would trade down, but they didn't, but I also was sure they would not take a corner with the 23rd pick if they stayed there and I was right about that.
