Reports Iβm seeing state heβs more concerned with the total guaranteed than the average annual. Hope Kwesi does better with this negotiation than some of the others.

This year counts into St. Brown's deal so really it is more like 24M a year with 16.5M or so in bonus paid to him this year. His option bonuses start next year. He is actually getting paid around 26M 2025-2028.

He was completely successful with ALL the others. He got the guys he wanted to keep and let the guys go who wanted to break the bank he'd worked for 3 years to create. It's called cap management. Get over your butt hurt because Hunter is gone. <Overheard Conversation at TCO SPorts Center, APril 27, 2024> Dallas Turner asked his new teammate, "Who's this hunter dude we keep hearin' about?" "I dunno, some old dude who left, I guess," Jonathan Greenard replied. "So's he gonna be missed?" "Nah, not so's you'd notice it," Greenard said with a huge shrug. "Not with us here, he ain't, bro." "Cool," Turner said as he offered a broad smile and a meaty fist bump. "You're right! We got this."

If Dallas gets asked about Hunter I am pretty sure his answer will be something like "He was one of my favorite pass rushers to watch and model my game after"... Come on man...

No Gm is going to go to his HC and DC in the middle of the season and tell them he's going to trade their best pass rusher because they aren't going to give him the contract he wants at the end of the season and they want a pick for him. Do you know of a better way to rebuild the same extremely caustic relationship Spielman and Zimmer had? KAM's smarter than that, and apparently he feels the working relationship he has with his coach and coordinators is worth more than a future draft pick.

Teams do it every year. They were still hoping to squeak into the wild card. They fielded calls on it though.

Love Hunter but Dallas Turner was already asked about pass rushers and he said he watched a LOT of film and studied Jonathan Greenard. I Do HOPE Kwesi has a plan and isn't in over his head.

I said if asked about Hunter, of course if he is asked about it generically he would mention his new teammate.

A "meaty fist bump"? eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww Also, LOL @ Greenard with his 23 career sacks saying "not so's you'd notice" about Hunter.

What do you think the trade deadline is every year? Itβs when teams smart enough to know they arenβt competitive enough to win a SB get rid of expensive but strong talents that donβt figure into their future for a multitude of reasons. Maybe they are rebuilding, maybe they donβt have the cap to re-sign. If youβre going to throw shade my way at least have a clue wtf youβre talking about! My opinions certainly arenβt always right but at least they are based off rational thought. Yes having an extra 1 st or 2nd for Hunter this year or next would have been really nice instead of getting absolutely nothing. But you keep thinking letting an all pro walk for nothing is a great idea while our team doesnt even make the playoffs let alone a Super Bowl push!

The Wilfs may have had a lot to do with Hunter not being traded. If they thought there was any chance of making the Playoffs they probably would not have signed off on a trade of Hunter. The trade deadline hit with the vikes 4 and 4 and on a three game win streak. But going to this year, I really didn't get the signing of griffin to the 4 mill contract. If they would have given him 3.95 mill they would still get the comp pick for Hunter. Could be they still get the Hunter comp pick, but it doesn't look like it per overthecap.com

We may think we know what went down but the fact is none of us have a clue. Maybe Kwesi shopped Hunter and the best anyone would give for a 29 year old soon to be free agent was a 6th? A first or second? Extremely doubtful. Maybe they thought they could resign him and then after the season he told the team no chance. Why does any star player hit free agency? It's easy to sit here and blame the GM for not trading a player, but fact is we have no clue.
