Hey guys...42 year old life long Vikings fan here that came over from PT (or whatever the hell its called these days). Proud...I am appreciative of all of your hard work and updated info. I miss the old PT...it seems like forum discussions are a dying way to enjoy football. Anyway...Who else is concerned with Bailey? Everything I read on the guy is that he seems to be missing kicks daily. In practice and in the scrimmage on Saturday. I know they are dinking around with different holders, but come on....wtf?!?! Am I worrying for no reason, or is there an issue here that needs to be addressed before the regular season starts? I know that automatic kickers are not just sitting around waiting for a call, and I am not saying I have an answer to this dilemma, but man...I don't want this season to come down to a kick! ie:1998 or Blair Walsh against Seattle in 2016.

Right now, I'm not worried but I'm not exactly happy about it either. Just have to hope he can find his accuracy again.

Yes I am worried. Bailey has gone down hill the last few seasons, and there is something in the water...

As a life long Viking fan, I of course am worried about our PK. It all started with Freddie the foot, Anderson, Walsh, that rookie kicker we had last year.

Oh.
Dan Bailey is now 34/44 (77.3%) in "live" field goal attempts at practices.

Not really. If they just keep Wile holding for him and stop messing around with everybody else; I believe they'll build a great re-pore with each other. I used to like it when they had a back up QB holding for the kickers, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen; so just let the punter and kicker stay working together; it seems as if when they do; he does better.

Oh. Dan Bailey is now 34/44 (77.3%) in "live" field goal attempts at practices. Do we know how many of those kicks had Wile as the holder? What are the percentages for the two LSs, if we only include Wile as the holder?

Sometimes they kept track of the holder by name.

I don't understand the whole rotating holder thing to begin with. The holder and kicker need to be familiar with each other and this is no way of going about it. Sometimes I think coaches can over think things a bit.

I think what has been extremely helpful lately is the shuffle of holders for his attempts through the first part of TC. Attachment Deleted

I think what has been extremely helpful lately is the shuffle of holders for his attempts through the first part of TC. View AttachmentI gotta believe it's something Bailey is heavily consulted on and if he felt it was going to screw with his prep he'd say enough is enough. Not to be "one of those guys", but I snapped from 3rd grade through high school. Well enough to get a small scholarship to a DII school, solely on that ability. If you have kids teach them to snap, easiest way to a scholarship if they are proficient. Anyway, people would be surprised what a snapper/holders practice looks like. Backups got a considerable amount of time more practicing than the starters. With starters you pretty much know what you're gonna get. But all hell breaks loose if the starter goes down and the backup is a guy who doesn't have the reps in. Snapping/holding is so much about muscle memory, you've done it tens of thousands of times over the years so the mantra becomes " don't think, just snap the fucking ball". The less you over think and more you allow muscle memory to take over the better.

I started worrying about the kicking game in 1998! Before that it was about everything else. Now i am complete...
