βNo matter who starts, theyβll both play a ton.β - Head Coach Kevin OβConnell on Sean Mannion and Kellen Mond
Well I for one look forwarded to watching some of that patented Mond fumbling of the snap against the Raiders. Judging from camp reports, I guess we'll also see a whole lot of checkdowns and holding the ball too long too. Can't wait! On a serious note, I'm sure they would have probably played the whole game anyways so no big whoop.
Reading between the lines -- seems like this means Capt. Kirk got COVID. Or do teams do 5 day isolations for any sickness nowadays?

Guess we will get to see how the KOC positivity meter ebbs and flows as QB1 holds the team hostage for the rest of the season. Canβt wait for this dude to be gone

Canβt wait for this dude to be gone How is Kirk holding the team hostage? I assume this is a reference to COVID and KC not being being vaccinated. You might not have heard but the NFL dropped all the COVID protocols because they were a complete bust. 95% of the league was jabbed last year and by December so many players were testing positive that the league stopped testing. Cases are running higher this summer than last and the reported cases are a huge under count because of at home tests. The jab doesnβt prevent you from getting COVID. My wife is jabbed and double boosted and just finished her 2nd trip with COVID last week. I would say most of the players got jabbed last year but havenβt gotten boosted. Iβd be happy to see Kirk go but some of you guys have to let go of this COVID hate you have him and other like Adam and Harry that didnβt get the shot. It was a waste of time.

I'm not a huge Kirk fan -- or more accurately not a fan of paying Kirk $40M when he can't really carry the team like a true superstar QB. But I'd have to admit these stats are clearly good. Defense, not offense, has been our problem for several years now.
I'm shocked he's still 7th in game winning drives. I can only assume he'd probably be in top 2 if it hasn't been for our ridiculously terrible 2 min defenses the last couple years. I lost count of how many games they gave up in the last seconds.

The jab is really only meant to keep you out of the hospital, right now the infection rate is higher than it's ever been by far, more than 80% of cases are not reported because as you said, at home testing. The Nfl is now using CDC guide lines of 5 day isolation than as long as you have no symptoms you are free to go, no negative test necessary. Now lets remember the reason people were pissed at kirk for not getting the jab was because the rule at that time kept you out a lot longer if you tested positive and left you out of team activities indoors when you were covid free.

Well 2 years as the defense was better then the O in 2018 and 2019. Kirk is a good QB he just is not a special QB.

He is here for 2 more seasons most likely so everyone has to get used to it. Since 2015 doesn't mean much since only a handful of current starting QB's have been starting since 2015 like Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, Stafford, Ryan, and maybe a one or 2 I am forgetting? Been a handful of elite QB's drafted just since Kirk has been here in Minnesota. Kirk is ok.

He's as good as Stafford, so he is probably good enough if the team around him is good enough. He's better than Trent Dilfer or Jim McMahon, but the 2017 defense wasn't as good as that Ravens defense or certainly not the '85 Bears, and while it remains to be seen (Cine?) how good this year's defense will be, it seems unlikely to be as good as those defenses. I'd love to be wrong about that, BTW. But if anything happens to Cousins, neither Mannion nor Mond are going to be the third coming of Nick Foles.

Think we're saying the same thing. Kirk is good just not special (aka worth $40M).
It's true that early on we had better D and a worse O. Guess it's a question if Kirk has been better the last couple years or just has better pieces around him -- but I kind of think it's a little of both
