The funny thing about this endless arguing over Kirk's pay is, what would the Law Firm of Wilf, Spielman, Zimmer & Zimmer actually DO with the money if this totally implausible scenario somehow occurred? Build us a champion because hey, all the years they've been failing at it were just cuz they stupidly paid Kirk too much?
What about all the years before Kirk? What about the fact they are the geniuses who paid him what some think is too much in the first place? Who are the geniuses going to sign with that money that somehow changes the team from perpetually average to 'World Champs Baby!' ?
It's all sort of ridiculous, like being down 24 points with a minute to go and trying to pump up the squad with "ok guys we just need to grab four onside kicks and toss four hail mary TD's in the next 60 seconds and by God we're winners!". Yup you sure are!

I am saying put him on the spot. What result occurs, I am not predicting. If u want to run wild with ur imagination, go ahead. Seems u already have. Well, maybe... but I'm not the guy who thinks reporters have a missionary obligation to hassle Kirk Cousins about his income. If no one asks, no one will know.

The issue is being locked into him through 2022 and then probably extending him before 2022 to lower his cap number meaning more years... By 2023 he will be 35 and out of his prime... Unlike some others on here I do think he provides a punchers chance like a Flacco situation where he could get red hot for a month at the right time with the right team, but then that could be any QB... He is not a bad QB, but just not a great one, and Vikings are looking down the barrel of locking into him as he physically regresses... He is not special enough for what he is paid and the overwhelming situation his contract causes the team...

Adding more years and more G money is the only way to lower his number and that is can kicking... The only time a team can ask for money back on a contract is when it is a choice between street or paycut.. This road will be travelled with a few guys this coming offseason such as Reiff, Rudolph, and Barr...

I see your/others points and agree to amicably disagree. Kirk is not somehow above being asked. No one is. NE asked Brady...he did eventually leave - but not until after he made team friendly deals prior.

You ask a hypothetical question. And you want a straight answer. Okay, here's my answer; If my work production was similar to his I wouldn't be able to face my boss when he was handing me my paycheck. I have been working for three years and failed my employer all three. If I were making minimum wage then it would be against the law for him to cut my pay. But if I were making $50 per hour and he asked me to take a cut to $30 per hour to help get the company back on its feet then I would say sure, no problem. It's the exact same "yes or no" hypothetical question you asked. Would you take 33% pay cut compared to what your peers make... Yes or No? Secondly, the company doesn't need to get "back on its feet"... the Vikings sports entertainment business is thriving and making over 300 million in profits a year. But in your hypothetical business model... lets say Kurt is the manager of the sales department (offense) and his staff is currently meeting expectations; however, shipping (defense) keeps sending the wrong stuff and customer service (special teams) keeps peeing their pants when the customer calls to complain. Why should the leader of the only successful department take a pay-cut because the CEO made a bunch of bad personnel decisions in other department? A few years ago the Vikings offered (AP) to take a pay cut from 12 million - to 6 million He refused and ended up signing a 2 year 8 million $ deal . What team is going to pay Cousins more than 25 million next year?

Kurts contract is virtually 100% guaranteed and the Vikings have no leverage to ask him to take less... the only way to get him to take a paycut is to extend him. Do you want Kurt to be a Viking past 2022?

It is not an anti Kirk bias or seeking a technicality to usurp his contract terms.
Rather just a question if he wud consider helping the team. No added years. No tricks. Just a question. He can handle it.
Ok. I have to leave it there.

A few years ago the Vikings offered ((Meghalayan Age)) to take a pay cut from 12 million - to 6 million He refused and ended up signing a 2 year 8 million $ deal . What team is going to pay Cousins more than 25 million next year? He is a QB... ANd actually I think they could trade his contract easily (21 mil 2021 35 mil 2022 for team trading for him and they would most likely renegotiate), but the team will not trade him and you have no leverage if you will not cut a player... 1st rule you have to be willing to cut the player... 2nd rule this doesn't work with starting QB's... Teams I think would be willing to look at him are Denver, New England, Indy, 49ers, Lions, Panthers, and maybe Cowboys if they cant work things out with Dak... His contract is not that bad if you take out the current bonus... He would have a market and actually make a good bridge QB for a team like Indy... Infact if issues arise with Cowboys and Dak I suspect Dak would end up in Indy, but just a guess... Washington obviously off the table as that bridge is burnt... Thing is they are not trading him and you cant negotiate a contract down without the specter of cutting the player... AND FINALLY HE IS A QB WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS?

Got it, anti-Kurt regime has the Vikings taking a 41 million guaranteed dead money hit in 2021 Save 1 mil on cap if they traded him, but will not... I doubt a team would trade for him without a renegotiate in the works also... His value to trade becomes less once league year starts and his 2022 fully g's without a renegotiate...
