Rochester Red Wings eliminated from playoffs so we should see some more callups ASAP.

13-5 Twins. Gibson went 5 (threw 107 pitches, over 70% strikes but the Tigers were able to foul off a lot of pitches). Relies on his off speed stuff as his out pitch as he can't get blow the ball by hitters (92-3 mph fastball).
Then came Duffy. Blew the Tigers hitters away. 3 SO's on only 10 pitches. Fastball clocked in tonight at 97 but have seen him crank it up to 99-100 before.
May followed with 3 SO's although it took him 14 pitches. 95 mph fastball tonight but have seen him get up to 97. His mechanics have improved significantly since the start of the season.
Dyson gave up a solo shot but had a good outing. Fastball clocks in at 95, he has a backdoor slider/cutter that has excellent movement (similar to a screwball) that rides in on right hand batters and a nice curve ball (crossed up the catcher who was set up outside--4 straight pitches same location-- and took it inside instead for the SO).
Next up Romo to finish up. Fastball is typically only 81-84 (have seen him crank it up to 87 once b4 in a prior game). Relies on guile and throwing 3/4 sidearm to get movement on his off speed pitches that are in the low to upper 70's. That's the kind of "stuff" you see in American Legion ball. Even HS pitchers "bring it" harder than he can. Only a journeyman at this point in career to get an out or 2 in select situations (or close out blow outs like tonight).
The point of this breakdown is 1) the Twins bullpen is much better than most people think (this is without having to use Rodgers tonight) although they could use another lefty and 2) Duffy should be a starter. He's impressed me more than any pitcher on their entire staff and I view him as starter material (has the build to have the stamina to go 7+ innings with only little off his fastball and has a mid 80's slider/cutter that's devastating.

The trades for Romo and Dyson are underrated IMO. Two more solid arms in the bullpen vastly reduces the pressure on the rest of the staff that will pay off down the stretch.
The bullpen will get their leftys (albeit minor leaguers) when the rosters expand. Or maybe one of them will pick up some starts and Perez will come out of the bp, which will probably be his role if the Twins make the playoffs.
Duffy made 36 starts in his first two seasons in the Majors, with less than favorable results(5.41 era as starter). He may be candidate to start again as he matures, and if he is the Twins won't overlook that opportunity. It probably wouldn't be mid season, though. The other option is to just leave him where he has been successful.
