Wasn't able to watch the 8th or 9th. Baldeli went with a reliever Danny Coulombe who I've never heard of. He was just added to the roster along with Poppen, who pitched pretty well except 1 outing then got shipped out, now that Odorizzi is likely out for the season.
If only we had some other decent pitching or hitting prospects, the Twins could get rid of Littell and Thorpe both of whom are horrible and I detest. It's as if Baldeli is waving the white flag (I surrender) when he puts 1 of those 2 in even in games that are still winnable even though the Twins are behind.
Anyway, Coulombe did his job (2 innings, 1 hit but 2 BB v. 2 SO's) but I didn't get a chance to watch him to be able to give a scouting report on him.

4 - 2 Twins in the 5th.
What is the future of Ryan Jeffers ?
Is he ready to back up Garver in 2021?

I think Jeffers is but don't expect it. Avila has been a pleasant surprise. His BA may not reflect it but he's a good hitter with an excellent eye at the plate (draws a lot of walks).
More importantly, Avila is an excellent catcher whereas Garver is so-so. Even Jeffers at 6'4" does a better job behind the plate than Garver in staying in front of pitches to prevent a WP or PB.

Rogers got the save but not without some drama (gave up a double and then run scoring single) before getting the final out.
He's been quite shaky as a closer other than his 1st relief appearance. Still has good but not overpowering stuff. Batters are fouling off more pitches than usual so he doesn't use his FB as much relying more on his breaking stuff. I think it's a confidence thing with him.

Hopefully he figures it out. Twins will need him 100% come playoff time.
