He needs a fresh start. Honestly I would be shocked if the Vikings got anything more than a 7th for him.

I'd be elated if we got a 7th for him.

I suggested trading a 7th a while back with him for a warm body and 1.8 mil in cap relief...

Hard to imagine we'll get anything for him. If they trade, they can make sure to get him but have to pay his current salary (and give up a pick). If they wait, the Vikes will cut him and they can sign him to a new, low price "prove it" contract and give up no picks.
Hope I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if anyone willingly trades for him -- but i do think someone will sign him after we cut him.

There is no cap relief to do that. He dead cap number is what it is. The only way we get away from that is to trade him.

So glad this day has come. He'll get another shot at another team, and I wish nothing but the best for him. Sometimes a fresh start is best for both.

Time to move on. Heβs been a bust as a Viking. Maybe heβll do better elsewhere. A parting on the ways is best for both sides.

The only way I can see them selling this trade proposal is to say they intend to keep him on the roster if they canβt find a trade partner, but they want to recoup a pick for the fifth for VedVike. I just hope itβs a bluff.

Situation is this, its highly unlikely that we make an effort next year to resign him and if he is unlikely to contribute this season based on depth, then why keep him and lose a player we wish to keep around. The issue I see is the cap hit. So if cap is really important than we need to be more creative. Currently no team is going to offer a trade when they know he will be likely cut, so why not offer Treadwell and a 6th round pick for another teams 7th round pick. Basically losing a pick, but saving cap space

I was surprised his jersey was not on the discount rack at the Viking store when I went to training camp last week.

The only team that might give anything for him would be the Patriots. Only so Belichick could make him a star and prove what a great coach he is. But in reality nobody is going to give us anything for him.
