Have there been any encouraging signs that this guy might be a somewhat bigger contributor in year 2? Maybe like an Instagram post of him working out, gaining muscle mass or whatever? (I'm not on any of the socials) We knew when we signed him that his rookie year would be almost a redshirt campaign while he worked his body into NFL standards.
I meant to watch out for him more last year but I sort of lost track of him as the season wore on. Often I will watch a game twice, once for the overall experience, then a follow up viewing to key in on specific players. But last year the QB play was so putrid I could barely stomach just the one viewing. I recall seeing him get some snaps early on and he was getting manhandled pretty badly by very average offensive players. Did that lead to his snap count declining throughout the season, or did I just not notice him out there on the field?
Has anyone read or heard anything to hint at him being ready for a bigger role in year 2?

a little early for these types of reports, I am hopeful we hear something about ACII around OTAs or early camp.

Havenβt read any new reports on him, yet. Hopefully, coming from a military academy, Carter II has discipline and drive. He got some live game experience last season. And, although his production was being just another guy, he now knows what it takes to make more of an impact in his second season. He has potential.

Carter II development might be a big thing or not in this draft. If there is no priority to take an Edge guy high, then he must be coming along as he was rated higher than UDFA for that draft (not unlike Pace).
Obvious was just needing to add some size to his frame and more experience with the Army being his conference for competition.

I can't find a link to it, but I remember seeing some pics of him working out with some other Vikes. I think he looks a bit bigger, so that should help his cause.... If he can get NFL strong instead of Army strong.

He was one of like 4-5 guys Viktor was greeting as they filed into the voluntary workouts the other day. Didn't look very big I don't think he has any bearing on if they draft a DE early. If he puts on some mass and develops, awesome. I don't expect anything from him. I'm not sure his frame can add enough weight, but what the hell do I know. I hope he proves me wrong and balls out.

We're drafting a QB in rd 1 and then won't pick again until rd 4. At that point, we're just taking BPA to fill out the roster. Andre Carter has no bearing on the Vikings 2024 draft strategy. He was a project UDFA that has a slim chance of being a meaningful contributor.

When they signed him, I'm sure it was always a 2 TC flyer. They didn't expect anything in last year's training camp, and that's exactly what they got. He also did not show well during the season, but since he was not in shape, that had to be expected.
This year's TC is the key. If he is bigger and stronger, great, he makes the team again. If he is in no better physical condition, he goes to the top of the to-be-cut list, and the 300k bonus is just written off.

I hope Andre can read between the lines;
Edge players new to the Vikings;
Greenard Van Ginkle Dallas Turner Jihad Ward Gabriel Murphy, OLB, UCLA Bo Richter, OLB, Air Force Owen Porter, OLB, Marshall
7 players added to the roster at the OLB/Edge position. Would you say they targeted the position?
AC II needs to come in on fire and make a leap in production.

Wasn't a bonus it was G'd salary last year. He has almost no cap hit if cut this year.

Van Ginkle can play some ILB also in particular in the Nickle.

Richter was a OLB/Edge pass rusher at Air Force so I'm thinking that's where he starts

Kinda seems like the team doesn't think Carter has been hitting the weightroom in the off-season like he was supposed to. I don't think the Vikings expect him to make the team this year.

I think Flores would always like to have about 10 Edge guys somewhere in the system.
A bunch of them will probably never stick but it provides them more shots at hitting on one and more depth.

Maybe all those signings mean they realize it will be hard to replace Hunter's production and the loss of Wonnum/Davenport rather than sending a message to an UDFA from last year...
