Was he a released or a free agent? If he's a free agent, it would cancel out the 3rd round comp pick next year. Right? was waived during the 2023 season, then claimed by Carolina on November 30. Not sure what that short time with Carolina or being previously waived means for comp eligibility.

The quantity of players theyβre signing indicates not having draft picks to fill holes. Hopefully the trade up is imminent.

Heβs the one with both hands, correct? I guess theyβll find out at the physical. His twin brother is retired.

I was trying to look up his #s etc. I know his name from his time in Seattle but didnβt follow his career too closely.
Anyone know why Houston released him mid year after starting 6 /10 games? I saw Houston had signed him to a 1 year 3.5 M contract last year at this time and released him 10 games into the season. Did he have off field issues, was his play that bad, was he injured? I assume no injury given he was claimed immediately.
Very odd to see a good player cut mid year by a contender. Even if usurped by a younger guy youβd expect him to have be kept for depth unless his play was just awful. On a 1 yr 3.5M deal I canβt believe there would have been enough cap relief to part with a solid CB as a contender. Just wondering if anyone knows more about this guy.
I see in articles the deal we signed is βup to 6 Mββ¦. Anyone know how much we are def on hook for?

That still sounds a bit strange since I wouldn't think they'd have gotten much cap relief, but that at least makes me feel a bit better.

Usually a guy that gets cut mid season, picked up and non renewed doesn't get a 70% pay increase which is what 6M would be. But it sounds like there must be some incentives in there he has to hit to make it to 6 so that is good. Anyone know what our base expense/cap hit is if we have to cut the guy?
