Vikings safety Harrison Smith has agreed to a restructured deal that will keep him in Minnesota for a 13th season in 2024, according to Tom Pelissero. He'll make $9 million this year, which is a notable step down from his previous cap hit of $19.2 million.

I hope they can use the extra cap space for a veteran CB, DT and OG.

The last remaining player from Zimmers defense. He was great for years, but he has regressed. I do like the Hitman.

That's a pretty good restructured contract in favor of keeping him.

VIKING for LIFE!!!!!!!!!! The HITMAN is back.
I love it. I know, I know his play has declined. Vikings know what he can and can't do. Last year his play suffered a LOT when he injured his shoulder and played through it for the second half of the season.
This guy is all about being a Viking!!!!!!! Should be a hall of fame candidate but the national media fks won't give him the recognition he has earned.

In 2023 he played 1113 defensive snaps out of an available 1131.
Hopefully they put him on a pitch count in 2024 to keep him more rested because I thought he played really well at the start of the season and noticeably tailed off as the season wore on.

WOW! i did not know that. Solid idea Angry.
Wouldn't surprise me if that was the original plan and some players did not step up.

2012 NFL Draft Rd 1 Pk 29 | Minnesota Vikings Select S Harrison Smith I love Harry, but I really wish he'd have retired. Maybe he's being kept as a mentor, but I really don't think he's bringing anything to the team anymore with his play ON the field. He's been the epitome of everything you could want in a player....but he's become a liability the last few years and he's likely standing in the way of progress of the younger guys we've drafted. I'm happy in the sense we'll get to see him retire a Vikings, as I think that is really special, but I just wish he'd have done it by now.

How has he been a liability the past few years, what a load of bull crap. Last year, he was declining hard, but he was as good as his partner in safety. It good to have his experience and he doesnβt have to be in every down.
