Even if it is completely torn down, I'm not confident we have owners who understand football enough to properly build it back up. Rather than hiring totally green GMs with no prior experience, it would benefit them greatly to bring on a GM who has spent his entire life living football and a solid track record of experience in sports management.

We have a GM learning on the job and a head coach learning on the job. That has become pretty clear. Maybe it'll all work out but right now it's not trending in the right direction.

Critical to start Winning. Viking will make playoffs. Have to get the roll going this week. What good would that do? They have zero chance against physical fronts that they will face in bad weather. Kirk is gone in 2024 and you have lost critical draft positioning in getting his replacement. Making the playoffs and getting bounced is the worst thing that can happen for the long term future of the Vikings especially in an exceptionally strong year for rookie QBโs. If the OL continues to improve (which they have been) I think they could do better in the post season than people expect. I think our OL is getting more physical...particularly running the ball as they have adapted more to the different blocking schemes. However, the odds are razor thin that we even make the playoffs let alone catch a hot streak to go deep in the playoffs. Look at Detroit last year....they were playing as well as anyone at the end of the year but had dug themselves too big of a hole early. To me that is the worst case scenario, we catch fire but still miss the playoffs. It's been done before (Giants, Eagles) but odds are really low. You hate to give up on a team with talent that is improving which is why I don't think you'll see any movement until the deadline at the earliest as they'll give this team every chance to make it. To the "getting destroyed" comment, this team has played 2 of the best teams in FB and frankly should have won both contests....so it isn't like they are getting destroyed by good teams like last year when they played Philly, Dallas, etc. If I were the GM I think the SF game has to be the bogey. If we get destroyed by SF then you know you don't have what it takes and have to commit 100% to rebuild, and if you do I think you have to sell the farm....Hunter, Smith, Hicks, Cousins, Cleveland, etc. To me if you are going to commit to a rebuild the key to the rest of this season is going to be the ability to see what you have in these backups which means moving on from people you aren't bring back, getting picks and creating playing time for others who may be back. Practice doesn't show shit because it's glorified touch football and reps are low unless you are starter. They need to get these kids playing time now if the plan is to reboot. It gives these guys half a season for the game to start to slow down, figure out who has upside, who is really a bust, who are the hidden gems that just needed a chance to show what they can do. While the NFL is a job, these kids are still people and not every kid is wired the same. I think a lot of fans fail to understand how hard it is psychologically to go from being a hyped draft pic who is a big deal to being buried on the depth chart and rarely stepping on a field. Some kids are motivated by the challenge and handle it great, others rely on the emotion that comes from playing and lose their desire and confidence because it is no longer there. These reboot opportunities are chance to get some of these kids onto a field and see if it turns the lights back on. I could see Booth being one of those types of players. I know my own Son is dealing with this at the college level. With Covid eligibility rules he went to a school that brought back 15 5th year seniors so he's buried on the depth chart and knows it and you can see just in his body language at practices that he's not the same player he was a year ago. His confidence is down, he's not playing with the same intensity and energy...in short his heart isn't in it right now which means he's not showing his best and I think a lot of rookies and 2nd year players buried on depth charts go through the same thing. It's hard to go from the top to the bottom and start over again. Anyway, they need to see what they have, that way they can go into the offseason and prioritize needs in FA and Draft vs. going in blind not having any real idea what they have in these kids....particularly guys like Cine, Booth, Asamoah who are starting to cost you significant cap. If they don't have it, you gotta move on. And if we are going with a new QB route....I think you have to see now what you have in Hall.......is he a Purdy or a Turdy!
