Cleveland is waving the white flag at 13-1. That’s going to be a lot of innings pitched by non-pitchers. Just waiting for Gallo to get into the game!

Lopez pitches out of a jam in the sixth inning. He leaves the bases loaded without allowing a run. It should be safe to use Pagán for the last three innings!

Gallo with a 2 run HR
and Farmer with a 3 run HR.
18 - 1 Twins.

And the bullpen implosion begins with Headrick.

Farmer replaces Correa probably the first of several substitutions I expect are coming. Vazquez the only Twins player left on the bench.

Gallo has more home runs than singles this season. And, he comes through with a single! All he’s needed was a position player to pitch to him to break out of his slump.

Wallner makes it 20 - 3
Castro in relief gives up 3 runs.
20 - 6 Final score.
Gray is thinking give me just 10 runs tomorrow night and I'll be happy.

Vazquez entered the game as a defensive replacement at second base.

What was the point of using Castro as a pitcher in the ninth inning? Was it really to save bullpen arms, because Floro could have gone a second inning, or else just let Pagán finish the game? Or, was Baldelli trying to make a statement to the Cleveland manager that having a position player pitch for four innings was bush league?

Good question I'd probably go with your last option but regardless it was a nice statement win to start the series.

Game 2: Lest we forget the series in Minnesota last week, where the Twins won the first game 10-6, only to drop the next two 4-2 and 5-2 (ten innings). Need to keep their foot on the gas and win this series. In the Twins favor is their ridiculously easy (on paper) remaining schedule, including series against the White Sox, A’s, Angels and Rockies.

Vazquez entered the game as a defensive replacement at second base. I missed that move must have been during 9th when Castro pitched. Just another reason for why Castro had no business pitching.

Gray given a lead to work with as Twins score two first inning runs after the first two batters made outs. Maybe Cleveland can use another position player to pitch the final four innings again.
