Kirk Cousins tries to hit Justin Jefferson up the seam for a big gain, but it’s broken up by #Titans DB Roger McCreary.
Titans receiver Treylon Burks had to be helped off the field after a leg injury during the first day of joint practices with the #Vikings. Came up grabbing his leg after a deep ball. Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins among those who went to check on him in the medical area.
Vikings first team has seen a 90/10 split of Alexander Mattison/CJ Ham
Chandler working in on all reps with Mullens on the 2nd team
Titans DT Jeffery Simmons has been a helluva load for the Vikings interior line, and he's chirping. Vikings offense, first and second teams, aren't getting much time to operate.
Kirk Cousins picked off by Titans CB Roger McCreary to end the Vikings first-team offense’s 2-min drill after two plays
Hurry-up drill update: Ryan Tannehill put together some throws to drive the field but the Titans missed the field goal. Then Nick Mullens came out and threw a tipped ball interception. Rough drill for these offenses going into the wind. Malik Willis now giving it a try.
Day 1 of Vikings-Titans joint practices just wrapped up. Both defenses will probably feel better about their afternoons than the offenses.
Vikings brought all kinds of pressure. Titans DL was disruptive. Defenses came up with stops in all four 2-min drives to end the day.
Ryan Wright punting with a heavy wind at his back and is just toying with Tennessee punt returners. Need TopTracer to showcase some of these wild curveballs.
Jordan Addison didn’t practice today. Kevin O’Connell says he had some very light symptoms from a play the other day and is in the concussion protocol but could be back as soon as Monday.
Garrett Bradbury on Titans' jawing: "There was a whole lot going on other than football. ... It's a joint practice where you're trying to get good, competitive reps ... a lot of that stuff wouldn't happen on Sundays. .. some extra stuff going on. We just have to go about our job"
O'Connell: "A couple things here or there, but I thought the protection in the dropback game overall was pretty solid. There might've been some leakage here or there. Wished we could've got a significant drive going in the 2 minute [drill ended by Cousins' INT]."
Vikings' attack limited in passing drills. Don't see Jordan Addison at practice, and still no T.J. Hockenson, who warmed up. Brandon Powell and Jalen Reagor getting more run. Lucky Jackson is back from injury.
UDFA WR Thayer Thomas is cooking every Titans DB during 1 on 1's. He's QUICK.
Vikings defense forced a QB pressure on nearly EVERY drop back during 11 on 11's against the Titans offense today.
Special teams 1 v. 1 gunning drills. Definitely the most intensity of the day.
Garrett Bradbury walked off with a trainer and headed to an area between the 2 live fields. It appears he was favoring his left ankle and was walking it off. He’s back in the sideline now.
High, high praise today on Ivan Pace Jr. from Kevin O'Connell. After complimenting his play for about a minute, said that Pace is no longer just competing to make the team but rather to contribute right out of the gate. He's been getting #1 reps with Brian Asamoah out.
Rookie running back DeWayne McBride, the seventh-round pick out of Alabama-Birmingham, had never returned a kickoff in a game before last week's preseason opener in Seattle. With Ty Chandler starting at running back, coaches decided to try McBride, who finished with three returns for 50 yards. "That was my first time actually doing kick return," McBride said. "I think I had just to get the feel for it. If I get the chance next game, I'll be ready." McBride is expected to get another chance Saturday against the Titans. Special teams coordinator Matt Daniels noted that McBride did not get much help from blockers, including two penalties and a missed block when McBride was drilled inside the 20-yard line.
"That shouldn't have happened," Daniels said. "'Deebo' ended up paying for it."
Kickers Greg Joseph and rookie Jack Podlesny are both expected to kick in Saturday's preseason game against the Titans. On Wednesday, they each had a field goal period. Facing up to 30 miles-per-hour wind gusts, Joseph converted 5 of 7 attempts, missing from 45 and 46 yards wide left. He made his last attempt from 55 yards. Podlesny made all three tries from 33, 46 and 50 yards.
