Dang! Why's the Interweb so hard!?!? 
These late 60's versions as a Throwback are fantastic! As an oldie, I was around but can't recall seeing them in action. Dad never took me to the cold Met Home games, and we never had color TV until after 1970 - post that jersey.
On a much bigger forum I frequent due to my obsession with sports uniforms/looks, it has been noted that the sleeves/no sleeves purple seen post these versions in the early '70's was due to materials. Archives depicted home games in the early parts of the season had one version of the jersey vs. later on the other. I can't recall which of the sleeve/none was the warmer cloth material, but this is how that could have factored into why in same season you could see each!
The Vikes wore throwbacks to the 70's-80's versions before (2009 as Ham saw) with Favre/Peterson. Gray masks and helmet horn were the same. The pants stripe about the same (width debatable). Jersey stripes same but just an iron-on white block number w/o gold outline - not as good looking to me.
