We need a big run stuffer. On paper he looks good and even if just rotation relief itβs a step to improve defense.

I rarely get excited beyond the 4th Rd. 5th, 6th and 7th rounders are simply a crap shoot. No GM really has much idea what they are getting here. We already had 8 DTβs in the 300-310 range. Not sure we needed another mediocre DT. We needed a big Stud DT in the 320-335 range that you canβt move. Tongs is that size but heβs not that player. I know we got at least 1 good player in this draft so thatβs good. Im disappointed, I disagree with everything we didβ¦ but all I can do is hope Kwesi is the genius you all think he is. I watched teams like the Chiefs and Eagles over the last few years trade up to draft in rounds 3-4 while we trade back for more 6th and 7thβs. Iβve wTched teams like Chiefs and Eagles consistently get ammunition from players they were prepared to move on from so they have a lot of ammunition. But our GM canβt unload anyone for comp. We literally may have had the worst draft in our Division. We are a worse teams today than we were a year ago at this time. Detroit got better, Chicago got better and GB Too early to tell what they have in Love. Only good thing is it wonβt cost us as much to move up for a QB in 24. Kwesi is getting schooled! I think heβs been above average in FA but below average everywhere else.

So give us some examples of these trades moving up. Looking back at their drafts, I don't see alot of movement on either teams part. They have drafted players in the 6th and 7th round just about every year.

The one thing that concerns me about Roy is that he gained 15 pounds last off-season to play NT. He might be at his weight ceiling. Forcing him to gain more weight could hurt his game, much like Mata'afa couldn't play at a higher weight.
I don't think he will be a head to head competitor with Avery for NT.

At 315, he may not be on the same weight class as teams with those gargantuan NT guys as our FA Avery, but I feel he will be a great improvement in providing some wall there in the middle - strong like a KWill!

I don't know what to make of the Roy pick, good or bad. I'm also not sure that giving someone who coached at a college program the year before so much leeway to select guys that he just coached is necessarily a great idea. I think the argument can be made that he saw these players day in - day out in practice and our course games so he's completely dialed in, but the other side of the coin is that he has emotional investment in these players.....as people. It sounds hard-hearted but you have to be completely objective when evaluating and selecting talent. Maybe one or both of the LSU guys pan out, and I hope they do, but I remember Rick giving Andre Patterson carte blanche on picks after he advocated for Danielle and that wasn't a great idea.

"you have to be completely objective when evaluating and selecting talent."
If that were true there would be no scouting, because no one is ever objective in evaluating talent, or evaluating anything. The very idea of evaluation is to apply values, and values are necessarily and wholly subjective. Scouting is 100% a subjective art, without any objectivity whatsoever.
If it were objective there would be no need for more than one scout, because what any one scout saw and reported would be perfectly identical to what any other possible scout would see and report. The fact that diverse scouts often disagree is conclusive evidence to the lack of objectivity in scouting.

We have always looked hard at LSU along with Clemson, USC, UCLA, Ohio St., among many others.
