I wouldn't want to trade Hunter as he's our best defensive player and still relatively young ... He's 28 and will be 29 midway through this season. In what book is that "relatively young" for a pass rush specialist?

Devil's advocate: Hunter will be 29 this season... if you are going to trade him this would probably be the time to do it. I thought Hunter came on 2nd half of the season and think he will likely be better this year. But I could see this front office trading him if they could get premium picks for him too. I think they currently have Z, Davenprot & Hunter on the roster to give themselves options. He came on strong in the 2nd half when Za'Darius Smith got injured, but I doubt he's going to be better this season. Edge rushers only rarely get better after the age of 28. 99% chance we have already seen Hunter's best year(s). Now would potentially be a good time to trade him, IF the price is right and assuming you can draft a rookie that isn't too much of a dropoff.

In what book is that "relatively young" for a pass rush specialist? History Smith, White, Doleman, Green, Strahan, Taylor, Randle and Dent all played productively into their mid 30's Julis Peppers played to 38 and his stats were pretty much the same. Jared Allen played for us until he was 31 and still had double digit sack totals.

Looking at the teams with multiple second round picks (with meaningless trade value points): The Steelers have picks 32 and 49 (1000) The Jets have picks 42 and 43 (950) The Seahawks have picks 37 and 52 (920) The Lions have picks 48 and 55 (770) The Bears have picks 53 and 61 (662) Would you trade 23 (760) in the first for any of these sets of 2 picks? Seems like a very Kwesi move...even a couple division rivals to trade with!

Justin Jefferson had one catch for 15 yards against the Packers in week 17, man that guy was invisible! We should try to trade him for a 6th if we can get it. Hunter put up very good numbers despite adjusting to a new scheme and being asked to rush the passer in a defense that regularly lined up CBs 8-12 yards off the receiver. It was so easy for QBs to take the easy underneath stuff, often it would take an uncontested rush in under 1.5 seconds to get home. And yet he still put up 65 tackles and 10.5 sacks. It makes me wonder what your criteria for a "visible" year would be. Nick Bosa was the 2022 sack leader, yet for 3 straight games he failed to notch a sack - the wildcard round win against the Seahawks, the divisional round win against Dallas, and the NFCC loss against Philadelphia. Man that guy went invisible right when his team needed him the most!! Hunter and Bosa had similar tackle amounts as far as "spikyness" on a week to week basis, both with 1 tackle as their low and 7 as their high, yet Hunter had 14 more total tackles on the season, so almost 1 extra per game on average. That's fair, age is a consideration. For the record I'm not in the "no way is Hunter traded" camp. My defense of Hunter was about the guy saying he's invisible, which is just absurd. We're a much better team with him, but if we need to move on this is probably the best time to do it. We're in a bit of a reset mode anyway so why not eat all our broccoli in one sitting?
