Other than kicker/punter/long snapper......many players are kept on rosters/signed because of their special teams prowess.2022 Vikings Specials Teams Snaps (other than kicker/punter/long snapper):- Boyd (403 snaps....82% of total) - HE IS NO LONGER ON OUR ROSTER
- Metellus (381 snaps....77% of total)
- Dye (330 snaps....67% of total)
- Ham (324 snaps....66% of total)
- Asamoah (285 snaps....58% of total) - HE PROBABLY WON'T PLAY SPECIAL TEAMS IN 2023 BECAUSE HE IS STARTING AT LB
- Jones, Patrick (277 snaps....56% of total)
- Jackson, Theo (275 snaps....56% of total) - MOST POSTERS PROBABLY DON'T EVEN REALIZE HE WAS ON OUR ROSTER
- Newly signed Reeder (3rd on Chargers last year with 313 special teams snaps)
Ham is kept around because he excels on special teams (along with being a great lead blocker/short yardage RB....even though used sparingly)
Reeder most likely was signed because he excels at special teams (along with being a decent back-up LB)
For those that don't want Boyd back, remember you are losing our special teams leader (even though he is a terrible CB).
I don't think it is accurate to assume that any back-up player can play special teams.

Wasn't Theo one of the Jackson 5? I have no problem bringing Boyd back. He's the new Sherels. Great on ST but you close your eyes every time he's out there playing CB.
