Iβm really not seeing KAMs vision based on the cuts/signings. trimmimng the roster of old, slow, over paid, high cap players that struggled in their '22 and '23 roles with younger cheaper short term contracts that clean up the cap while not mortgaging the future. Rosters take time, there are still moves to be made, one or both of Z and Cook will likely be traded or cut, Hunter will be addressed, TJ will likely be extended to multi year deal which should lower his '23 cap. Rookies will be drafted and UDFAs added... Gettings lots of competition in spots where they need better play should bring about better play. I think we can see that the plan is to get younger and faster while getting cap under control.

They cut Kendricks and Theilen, sure, and let the very productive Tomlinson go. Other unproductive or decline players have stayed. Young players who have been overly inconsistent but still flashed talent have been let go (and I have to think Dantzler could have been traded for at least a 7th given that there was a waiver claim, very possibly a 6th). Im seeing something else, entirely. I think they think that the Vikes are closer to contention level than we think. So they think that they are going to mostly run back the offense and hope Flores and focusing on edge guys getting pressure along with 1 new CB FA and maybe a high draft rookie plus Booth and Evans are going to be enough at corner, some rotation of rotation guys without clear starters enough at DL, and Dye, Hicks, Asamoah at LB (maybe another rook) along with a decent enough S group. so they are pushing a bunch of cap liability into the future to allow that, without really going all in, just βmostly in.β

Fans that want to blow it up are going to be unhappy. That was never the plan.

Now, Ham can split reps with the blocking tight end they just signed. Or maybe the blocking tight end isn't going to be a blocking tight end...

Yeah those 3 extra catches Oliver had over Ham last year are really game-changing I'm sure...I see why he's worth 3 years, 21 million

Every time I start to get on board we make a decision like extending Ham and I just scratch my head. I'm guessing the consensus in the coaching room is our IOL is not going to be fixed in 2023 and will need the help of a FB to open up holes between the tackles with Oliver helping outside. But given the guy only had like 180 snaps last year....I just don't see the point unless the plan is to run the ball significantly more. And if Mattison is going to be RB1, I'd think the use of a FB would be less of a need as he is a more powerful runner than Cook.
I really like the Davenport and Murphy signings IF they can stay healthy, but as another poster mentioned....I'm really struggling to see his vision right now. Currently we have a 1st and 3rd pick in the top 3 rounds. We have 5 TEs, 9 DL, 9 OLB, but only 5 CB's on Roster of which only 1 has ever been a starter, 1 has never stayed healthy and 2 have never dressed for a game. We also only have 3 ILB's of which 1 has ever been an actual starter the other two have limited experience and are both undersized. We have a desperate need for a WR2 and we have a QB we haven't extended and we continue to push cap into 24 which insinuates perhaps he's not getting extended so we'll likely be looking to move up in the draft for a top 10 pick.
Murphy and Davenport signings I give a B/A rating on. But the rest of what we've done I don't get. We have gaping holes at CB and ILB and NT and if we trade up we won't have the ammo to fill these holes. But, we are signing TE's, signing average DT's that really aren't different than the other 7 we have, we extended vs. cutting an overpriced FB that only played like 180 snaps last year. Why do we have 9 OLB and only 3 CB's with any experience. Why do we have 5 TE's and only 3 ILB's. If we don't extend Cousins and trade up....where are we going to get a CB, NT or ILB in the draft? Why are we paying a Long Snapper more than 5 guys on our team that will start or play significant roles? Why did we bring back a Kicker with gtd money that can't consistently make Xtra points? Why did we extend a FB that is the 12th highest paid player on the team (his cap is roughly the same as Darrisaw and Jefferson)?
Maybe he has a master plan he's yet to unleash (and I hope he does), but I'm struggling to understand the prioritization of cap spend and roster creation at the moment!

I'll state this again....is getting paid more than Darrisaw and just under Jefferson and not sure where pay will get pushed, but prior to new deal terms is the 12th highest cap hit on the team! The guy played less than 180 snaps last year!
