If the kid can stay healthy he could be a beast in Flores Defense. He has great burst and is physically dominating. Big dude.
Iβm not sure wtf we are doing with cap right now to make room for this, but somebodyβs got to go! Any chance we are all wrong on Marcus being a replacement for Z and is perhaps intended as a replacement for Hunter? Been wondering it since day one of MD signing with the Vikings saying no intention of moving Z.
With the way Hunters contract is structured, I donβt know how itβs possible given our cap constraints as Roo alluded. I thought early on there was a chance theyβd move him for picks. But with all the FA weβve signed, bringing back Mattison and not cutting Hicksβ¦ I just donβt know how you do that without making a really stupid decision like redoing OβNeil and making his cap hit even worse in the future. That contract is already horrible!
Only reason I question a possible Hunter trade at this point is heβs the one player that would give us a draft haul big enough to move up to get a QB. Rumors all the gf season are that the Vikings like AR and if they really feel heβs a generational talentβ¦you do what it takes! Iβm not sold on the kid, but maybe the Vikings are. Who knows.
Going back to original post, If MD can stay healthy we are going to regret only signing him to a one year dealβ¦.Iβm hoping we regret it!

Going back to original post, If MD can stay healthy we are going to regret only signing him to a one year dealβ¦.Iβm hoping we regret it! Well right now we are still looking through the lens of how things are in relation to the 23' draft. Once we get past the draft and June 1st there are a lot of guys they can move post June 1st that are less of an issue then now. Guys like Hicks, Ham, and Blacklock can still get cut before week 1 and for right now the team is just saying they will bring them to camp. Davenport signing is the one signing I look at and say it will either be a really good signing or a really bad one with no in between. If he is hurt and/or doesn't produce it is wasted cap space, if he plays average it is too much to pay for the production, and if he plays great it's a nice stopgap move. I mean we are Paying Wonnum less then 3M to give us average production at the position and there are hopes for Jones. Your asking a guy that has never really stayed healthy for an entire season to stay healthy, probably get 35+ pressures, and 8+ sacks to start scratching the surface of being worth the signing. If I were a betting man I would take the under on Davenport, but he has the talent to actually make it a good deal.

Iβd have rather seen this 13mil paid to Bobby Wagner on a two year deal.
2 years of Wagner is better than 1 year of Davenport paid over the next 2 years.

If Minnesota is only a one year stop over for Davenport I hope he has a monster year, some other team makes him a mega-contract FA offer, and in 2025 we get a 3rd round compensatory pick for him.
