Plus if Shanny is looking to dump a young QB whoβs still on his rookie deal then Lance must really be a turd. Shanny is no dummy. Shanny does like Cousins... would you do an even swap? If Purdy wins the Bowl, he is gonna be there QB for 10+ years.

If this was Trey Lance alumni of Indiana State and not NDSU would this board think as highly of him? They traded their 2021, 2022, 2023 FIRST ROUND PICKS and 2022 third round pick. What planet is 3 firsts and a third in exchange for two years and a third round pick logical? They can keep both Lance and Purdy at a cost of around $10 million COMBINED. Unless they view him as absolutely worthless it makes no sense to trade him for anything that doesn't start with a first or dual second round picks.

This is silly conjecture.
Why on earth would the 49ers deal Lance who is still on a rookie contract while Jimmy is becoming a FA?
Who is going to back up Purdy? A guy off the street? The draft? Or Lance who still has potential and is making nothing?
Think logically.

Iβm sure San Francisco would be all over taking Kendrickβs or Hicks back in a trade π given how bad their defense is.

No. Lance is another NDSU QB who won't amount to anything but overhype. Can't stay healthy, not very accurate. Hard pass

He had a nice long ball at NDSU and had decent touch on short passes. Not sure how he'd be under pressure because he never faced much pressure at NDSU. Great athlete and good wheels so he was drafted with high expectations, but that means plenty of injury in the NFL (which has already happened for him).

If by 3rd you meant 2025 7th.

What concerns me is that Shanahan is truly the QB whisperer. He's made Jimmy G look above average, he gets hurt in comes our backup Mullins and he looks good, then this year Purdy steps in and despite being a late round draft he wins 7 in a row and has SF in the NFC Championship game. What one QB has he been unable to make look good....Lance.
That should tell you all you need to know. When I guy that makes every QB look decent to great can't make someone drafted in the top 3 of a draft look at least worth keeping....well that's probably something to stay away from. That said if a 3 is the cost, it may be worth the risk. However it would depend on how his Roster Bonus is treated. If we had to absorb the roster bonus then no. If only base salary....then I think it could be worthwhile.

($9 Mil Cap Hit in 23 and almost $11M in 24) B) They have a lot of high priced players I'm sure they'd love to keep, 9M goes a long way C) Maybe they know he sucks or is at a minimum too much of a project.

The Vikings need this yearβs third round pick. How about sending them a 2024 third round pick, plus give them Kendricks and Hicks. Sarcasm?
